Since 1919, the East Africa Kennel Club (EAKC) has served as the registry for purebred dogs in East Africa. It promotes responsible dog ownership, breeding, and importation while fostering the special bond between dogs and people.

- Shows are held 3 times a year and judged by international experts.
- Champion titles require consistent wins under different judges.

- Registration of imported dogs, litters, and ownership transfers is required.
- Documentation and microchipping may be mandatory depending on breed and region.
- These rules may be updated based on evolving breed standards and international alignment.
